“Sometimes danger is hard to see… until it’s too late.

Britt Pfeiffer has trained to backpack the Teton Range, but she isn’t prepared when her ex-boyfriend, who still haunts her every thought, wants to join her. Before Britt can explore her feelings for Calvin, an unexpected blizzard forces her to seek shelter in a remote cabin, accepting the hospitality of its two very handsome occupants—but these men are fugitives, and they take her hostage.

In exchange for her life, Britt agrees to guide the men off the mountain. As they set off, Britt knows she must stay alive long enough for Calvin to find her. The task is made even more complicated when Britt finds chilling evidence of a series of murders that have taken place there… and in uncovering this, she may become the killer’s next target.

But nothing is as it seems in the mountains, and everyone is keeping secrets, including Mason, one of her kidnappers. His kindness is confusing Britt. Is he an enemy? Or an ally?

BLACK ICE is New York Times bestselling author Becca Fitzpatrick’s riveting romantic thriller set against the treacherous backdrop of the mountains of Wyoming. Falling in love should never be this dangerous…

Review:

First off, I WAS IN THE MOUNTAINS WHEN I READ THIS. OKAY BYE. So besides that amazing opening, I read Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick while I was on a ski trip to the beautiful BC Rockies. Honestly reading it there really added to the experience, plus it made me feel like Britt and it was amazing. If only I had a Mason to go with me… *swoons and sighs*

The plot of this story was FANTASTIC. Getting lost in the mountains and being held hostage, such a great plot idea for a story. I honestly loved every moment of this book. The opening gave us an idea of our characters and how they behaved. Then the rising action was intense as crap, I mean come one! Going through the woods at night to try and save your own skin was insane. The climax was HOLY CRAP GOOD. The falling action was also very good along with the Conclusion. {The conclusion hit me in the feels.} OH THE FEELS OF MY FAVOURITE CHARACTERS!!!!!! BRUDE FOR LIFEEEEE. Okay, that was the plot summed up in a nutshell with my crazy fangirl actions.

The characters where wonderful! I loved them so much and some not so much. Britt, our protagonist and female lead was like any girl. Hard headed, determined, and brave. Along with courageous and many other things. When things got tough she tried her best to work through them and stay positive. Then there was Mason, our male lead. He was a man who worker his but off to stay protected. He had his secrets, and secrets no one knew about. But the thing was, would he ever be able to open his heart and tell them? Or would they haunt him forever? Along with our two leads, we had our supporting characters. Korbie and Calvin, both brother and sister along with our female leads love interest at the beginning of the book, they seem innocent enough until the trust between them all is broken. And their secrets will be told. Whether they want them to or not. And then there was Shaun. One of our captors in the story. One that you have to read the book to understand. All of the character’s development where written beautifully. And honestly I wouldn’t change one thing about this book. That’s how good it was.

Overall, I highly enjoyed this book. And I know many other people will agree with me on it. Everything was just wow and ugh. Now I need more of Becca Fitzpatrick’s books. I think I’m obsessed now.

Congratulations Becca Fitzpatrick on yet another astounding novel. I am looking forward to reading more of your books in the future.
